About TRUHockey

We started TRUHockey Development because we understand what players truly face—on and off the ice. Hockey is more than just a game; it’s a journey that tests your mind as much as your body. Whether it’s battling for the ice time, facing adversity, searching for inner-belief, or learning to step outside your comfort zone—we’ve been there.

The transformation power of confidence is a beautiful thing… When a player believes in themselves, everything changes—their stride, their decision-making, their presence.

TRUHockey Development uses a Holistic approach to develop our athletes. We help athletes understand the importance of mental strength, resilience, and perseverance. We believe that TRU-Growth happens when we develop both the skill and the character of the athlete – on and off the ice. We build athletes today and leaders of the future!

TRUHockey was built to help players develop not just skill, but belief. Through purposeful Edge Work, Skill Development, and Confidence & Leadership Coaching, we support the growth of athletes who want to move with confidence, think the game, and carry themselves with pride.

Craig Cuthbert – Growth & Program Coordinator

Born and raised in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Craig brings a deep and well-rounded understanding of the game—both on and off the ice—to his role at TRUHockey Development. A WHL draft pick, Craig played for the Kelowna Rockets and Saskatoon Blades before continuing his junior career with the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the AJHL. He went on to captain the University of Regina Cougars while earning his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

Craig’s passion for coaching and player development has been shaped by his experience as an Assistant Coach with the Bonnyville Pontiacs and as Director of Leadership and Culture with the Swift Current Broncos. Craig has also completed the Level 52 Accelerated Leadership Program and earned his Confidence Coaching Certificate through the Transformation Academy, further strengthening his ability to support the development of mentally strong athletes.

He firmly believes that while physical skill is essential, mental resilience, emotional intelligence, and confidence are equally critical to building high-performing athletes. His coaching philosophy focuses on developing habits and character traits that serve players both on the ice and in life.

Through his own experiences, Craig has learned the value of holistic development—an approach he now shares with the next generation. At TRUHockey, he empowers athletes to reach their full potential and perform under pressure, not only as players but as confident, capable individuals.

Bailey Habscheid – Growth & Performance Coach

Bailey Habscheid was born and raised in Swift Current, SK, where she played her minor hockey. She was a member of the SC U18 AAA Wildcats in their inaugural seasons (2006–2010) and represented Team Saskatchewan for four years.

In 2009, she was invited to the U18 Team Canada camp. Throughout her career, Habscheid earned numerous accolades, including Top Defense and MVP in the SFMAAAHL, as well as First Team All-Star and Top Defense at the Mac’s Tournament in Calgary. In 2022, she played for Luxembourg’s National Team in an International tournament. What she values most from hockey are the lifelong friendships she’s made.

Habscheid earned a Division I scholarship to St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, helping the Saints win their first ECAC championship in 2012 and achieve a Top-8 national ranking. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History and Canadian Studies, and minoring in Sports Exercise Science.

Her passion for the game led to coaching. She served as an Assistant Coach with the Prince Albert U18 AAA Bears, reaching the Esso Cup National Championship twice, and worked as a Skills Coach with Global Hockey Academy for four years. After returning home to Swift Current, Habscheid is excited to give back to the community that shaped her. She loves helping players build confidence, develop skills, and grow as leaders both on and off the ice.

Away from the rink, Habscheid serves her community as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Swift Current Fire Department.

Tanner Lange – Growth & Performance Coach

At the age of 11, Tanner moved from Cabri to Swift Current, a place he has proudly called home ever since. Hockey has always been a source of joy and accomplishment for him, and he feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to play at multiple levels—including Tier 1, Midget AAA, Senior Hockey, and at the University level. Beyond the rink, Tanner also had the unique opportunity to compete at the 2012 Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championships in Quebec City.

While playing with the University of Regina Cougars as an Academic All-Canadian, he earned a Bachelors of Education Degree, which led him to a rewarding five-year teaching career at Maverick School in Swift Current. Although he valued his time as an educator, his path shifted in 2021, when he began a new career in the fire service. That April, he was hired as a firefighter/paramedic with the Swift Current Fire Department.

In 2022, Tanner received the COPR Award of Excellence, presented to the candidate with the highest score on the national licensing exam for primary care paramedics—a milestone that reflected the dedication and hard work he put into the program.

Today, Tanner is thrilled to combine his lifelong passion for hockey with my professional experience by being part of the TRUHockey Team. Tanner looks forward to helping foster the growth of the next generation of athletes and leaders, both on and off the ice.
